The Security Shield Virus and How to Remove It

There are many programs going around on the Internet masquerading as an antivirus program but in reality they are viruses infecting millions of computers daily. This is why it's so important to read antivirus reviews before you download anything so you'll know what a legitimate program is and what isn't. Security Shield is one of these fake antivirus programs that will infect your computer and it's from the same group that spawned the Security Tool virus. Like the ones that came before it, this virus program does a fake scan of your computer and then gives you false alerts that are designed to pressure you into buying their software. Once you buy it, it will steal your information making identity and bank theft likely. It's important to remove this virus as soon as possible.

First, let me reiterate that everyone should have a good antivirus program installed on their computer. If you do not currently have antivirus protection, please read antivirus reviews and select the protection that is right for you. If this virus program is not removed right away it will just keep digging itself deeper into your system until you're getting constant error messages, pop-up's and other warnings that makes your computer pretty useless. It will perform scans of your system and tell you that your computer is full of viruses, spyware and Trojans when the truth is the program is the virus. This virus must be deleted and there are two different ways to do this.

You can remove this virus manually if you are an expert and know how to edit the registry. You just seek all registry keys that have anything to do with this virus program and remove them and all corresponding files and folders. This process can take time and it can also be quite dangerous because one mistake can really affect your computer negatively, thus requiring professional assistance to fix.

It is recommended that you automatically remove this virus by using a good antivirus software. Be sure to check antivirus reviews before selecting which antivirus is best for you. It is very easy and safe to remove this virus with a good antivirus software. It will clean it out with just a few clicks and make your computer run like it did before you where infected. Hackers make new viruses every day so it is important to have a good antivirus and that you always keep it up to date.

The Security Shield Spyware and How to Remove It From Your System

Spyware such as Security Shield spreads quickly and is very fast moving. There is an ongoing trend now of viruses that are made to look like security software, and Security Shield is just the latest of these. This type of software will do a computer scan and will repeatedly ask you to buy the full version of the software, but you should never do this. These people will steal anything and everything from your computer. While these programs will claim to be a free Antivirus (upgradable to a full paid version) that's capable of fixing computer errors on your computer, they will not. They will actually slow down your computer and put you in danger of losing your vital information. Software such as this is likely to take control of your browser, make some programs lock up, change the settings of your computer, drive you crazy with those pop-up ads, and steal your personal information. So we need to protect ourselves, our identity, our privacy and our money. It is vitally important to rid Security Shield Virus immediately!!

This threat will normally get on your system through spam, phishing sites, email attachments or flash video codecs. Security Shield sometimes combines with a legal program and once that program is installed, it can be very hard to get rid of. Things that your computer normally doesn't have any trouble with won't run correctly now. Performing searches will become difficult because they'll be re-routed and doing the simplest tasks takes a longer time. So how is this virus removed? Let's talk about it.

There are a couple of different ways to go about removing this. You can remove Security Shield manually which is only recommended for professionals because it involves editing the registry and one error could mean huge problems and a lot of money in repairs. Or you can remove it automatically. The manual way should only be attempted by experts. If you are one and are comfortable editing the registry, then follow these steps. Go in to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder. Find all related registry keys and delete them. Then locate related DLL files and unregister them and delete all folders and files related to the program. You can find the complete list of all files and folders related to this virus online.

I recommend the second option of removing the virus automatically. This can be removed by using a lightweight free antivirus. Most of these can clean up your computer fast and get it running like new in no time. Make sure that your free antivirus is from a reputable company and not another security virus. Also make sure that it does updates automatically and has an active scanning process that will keep you safe. If you take these steps you will no longer be at risk.

How to Remove the Click Potato Virus for Good

A common and famous malicious browser hijacking virus is the Click Potato virus. If you haven't downloaded and installed the best antivirus software on your computer, this virus can install itself on to your system without you even knowing about it. By the time you figure out something is wrong, it's over. Once it gets in to your hard drive it then starts harassing you with pop-up ads for a variety of different products. This one can be very hard to get rid of since it's so closely tied to the browser. To learn how to remove this program, please continue reading.

Click Potato is a program that will start a constant stream of pop-up ads once it's in your system, rendering your computer virtually unusable. The ads that will pop up are fake ads so be very careful not to click on any of these and use your credit card to try to buy them or you will have your credit card information stolen. It will also slow down and disrupt most, if not all, of your basic Windows functions and produce error messages.

This one can be a bit of a challenge to remove and most people don't know the right way of getting rid of it. Again, if you have the best antivirus software for your needs, then you'll likely not experience this problem and that is the preferred outcome. But if you have already gotten infected then it is important to understand that this isn't like a regular virus. It is considered as malware, so besides downloading and running the best antivirus that you can find, you will probably also need a specific program to remove the Click Potato virus. The process of removing it is to simply stop all the activity from the program and then through your removal program get rid of it for good.

You can also manually remove it if you're an expert or advanced user. If this is how you want to proceed then boot in to safe mode and stop all activities of the Click Potato program. Then just locate and delete all files and folders that have anything at all to do with the Click Potato. When finished, make sure to keep yourself safe by researching and downloading the best antivirus program you can find.

One of the best ways to get rid of this virus is to download a program called "Frontline Rogue Remover." This program will go through your computer, find and delete all files and settings that have anything to do with the Click Potato virus so you will get rid of everything all at once. But I cannot stress enough that if you don't want this to happen to you again in the future, then you should always have the best antivirus program updated and running on your computer to keep all of your information safe.

Ways to Remove Antivirus Soft

Antivirus soft is yet another in a long line of fake antivirus programs. It gets in to your system through Trojans and also through websites that they set up to trick you. The web site will perform a free scan of your system and while the results of the scan look really bad, it's the scanner itself that you must be afraid of. It will lie to you and tell you that you have all kinds of viruses and that the only way to get rid of these viruses is to download their program. Always be extra cautious when dealing with free antivirus software or free online virus scans in particular. Because while there are many legitimate and good free antivirus programs, many will just give you a false scan in the hopes that they will scare you into buying the full version of their product.

If you get infected with this virus you will not only get a fake scan result and security report, you will also get many pop-ups warning you of threats that don't really exist. It will keep trying to scare you into running the fake scan again so that it can dig itself in deeper. Do not fall for this. You must remove it as soon as possible. Antivirus soft often turns off your real antivirus software and your firewall in an attempt to make it harder for you to remove it from your system. Additionally it will change Internet Explorer's proxy settings so that it can re-direct you to the web sites it wants you to see. Many of the web sites that they re-direct you to will also be offering free antivirus scans so don't fall for it.

There are basically two different ways to approach getting rid of this virus, manual and automatic. In both cases it is recommended that you re-start your computer and boot in to safe mode with networking. This will allow you to make the necessary changes to the proxy in Internet Explorer. If you decide to do this manually you will first need to stop all processes that have anything to do with the virus. Then it is just a matter of going in to the registry and deleting all keys that are tied to the virus program. Then you have to remove all files and folders related to the antivirus soft virus. Be careful because one bad move when editing the registry can cause some huge problems for you. This should only be attempted by experienced and advanced users.

The preferred method for removing this is the automatic way. Pretty much all you do is download a program to remove spyware and run it. This program will automatically find and get rid of all traces of the virus program including all the affected registry keys. This is also good because the anti spyware software that you download to get rid of this problem, will help you in the future by preventing these problems before they start. So in short, when you see an ad for a free antivirus always research and make sure the product is legitimate and not another of these ever growing and changing virus programs.

How To Remove A Keylogger

A keylogger used to be something that would only be used by modern day spies or private detectives. However, we now live in the digital age and these gadgets are available for anyone to purchase. Some employers like to monitor the computer usage of their staff. Likewise, parents have a vested interest in keeping a discreet eye on their offspring. Both of the aforementioned being considered legitimate reasons for using a keylogger. That said, it is a different story altogether when someone installs a keylogger on a computer they do not own. In this scenario, you should educate yourself on how to remove a keylogger.

There are several tell-tale signs of a keylogger infection. Your computer may start acting in a strange way by being unresponsive or there could be new programs installed that you have no knowledge of. Monitoring the number of active processes on your computer can help you locate the culprit although this does require some expertise. Another sign of a keylogger is when someone you know is aware what your usernames and passwords are for various online accounts or websites.

Keyloggers are notoriously difficult to shift but there are steps you can take to remove them. Firstly, you should check your anti virus program is working and is up to date. Then you should do a full scan of your computer. Unfortunately, technology does not stand still and keyloggers have found ways to escape under the radar of many anti virus software products. This means that your anti virus program may not detect the keylogger.

Because of the number of keylogger software products, it was only a matter of time before companies recognized a market exists for the detection and removal of these programs. Keylogger detection software or anti keylogger software is probably your best bet if you want to stop a keylogger operating on your computer. These products are designed purely to combat the keylogger and will happily co-exist alongside your anti virus program. The cost of a good anti keylogger software is quite modest and is a small price to pay to reclaim your privacy and keep those personal details safe from prying eyes.

If all else fails then you have the option of doing a fresh, full installation of your operating system. However, this will only succeed in removing the keylogger if you have the operating system on a disc as opposed to a digital download. This is recommended as a last resort if the steps outlined above do not bear fruition. I hope that after reading this article you are now better informed about how to remove a keylogger from your computer.

How to Remove Malware and Spyware From a Computer

What is Spyware/Malware?

Spyware collects your personal information without your knowledge. This can be the websites you visit to more serious concerns like passwords and usernames you enter. It can also affect your computers performance as it uses vital resources and a heavy infection can pretty much bring your computer to a standstill. Malware is software that is designed to gain unauthorised access to your computer. Some of the nastier bits of software can open up your computer for nastier viruses or hijack your internet browser and inundate you with pop ups of false security software and cleaners

Getting Rid of it

Although there are lots of tools out there I think that there is one tool that stands head and shoulders above every other and is the first tool I turn to and that is malwarebytes.

Links to both these free versions of this software can be found at the end of the article.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) is a computer application that finds and removes malware. Made by Malwarebytes Corporation, it was released in January 2008. It is available in a free version, which scans for and removes malware when started manually, and a paid version, which provides scheduled scans, real-time protection and a flash memory scanner.

Instructions

1. Download from the above link and double click the saved file to start the install. Follow the on screen instructions.

2. After install has finished you will be presented with a final screen. Ensure both boxes are ticked and press finish.

3. The program will now get the latest definitions (Like anti-virus software)

4. At the next window press decline on the pop up as we only want the free version

5. Select perform full scan and press Scan. Scanning can take up to 2 hours on a heavily infected machine and the program uses a lot of resources so it is recommended not to use the computer while the scan is running to avoid freezes.

6. Once the scan is finished if you have any infections you will be presented with a screen saying the scan has completed. Press Ok then press show results.

7. This page shows you the infections this could be anywhere from one or two to 1000s

8. Next press remove selected and the program will begin removing the infection from the computer. When the removal has finished you will more than likely be presented with the following screen and a log file. Restart your computer and the infections should be removed on restart.

Super Spy antiSpyware is another tool that is very helpful in the fight against spyware. It has good detection rates and is easy to install. As with a lot of free programs they do have a paid for version that offers additional features.

Instructions

1. Download the program from the above link and install. During install ensure you dont install the toolbar. Double click the icon on your desktop to open.

2. Select "complete scan" and press "Scan your computer"

3. Select the drives you wish to scan on the right hand side (normally automatically selected) and leave all other settings at their default and press Start complete scan

4. The scan will start and you will see statistics of the file it has scanned and any threats it has already detected. Once the scan is complete and you are presented with a new screen press continue.

5. The next screen gives you a list of the threats detected. Press remove threats to remove the detected threats

6. In most cases you will be asked to reboot the computer to completely get rid of the infections. Press reboot.

How to Remove Win32 Heur Virus From Your Computer

This article describes the procedure for removing Win32 heur virus. The methods compiled here are reliable and correct to date for Win32 virus removal. It is, however, recommended that these should be implemented carefully to avoid running into problems. You may also at the same time use a online virus removal support service to get an expert to remove the Win32 heur virus for you.

Win32 heur virus is a malicious Trojan virus program that targets Windows operating systems. When installed, the virus hijacks a computer and modifies its configurations by flooding it with harmful file sharing programs, multimedia files, phishing emails, and spyware among other malicious programs. It also disables antivirus or anti-spyware among other security programs and redirects the internet browser to only adult websites. Since it can be difficult to perform Win32 heur virus removal, we have designed a comprehensive guide that will help you remove it. See below for details:

Instructions:

Launch Task Manager by right clicking anywhere on the taskbar and making the selection. Alternatively, you can press Alt, Ctrl, and Delete keys together on the keyboard to launch the utility. Click to highlight the Processes tab, locate win32/heur.exe process, select it, and press the End Process button. It will prevent the malicious process from running in the background. Exit Task Manager.

If you are not able to kill the malicious process using Task Manager, download RKill from its official website. Save the downloaded file and extract its contents. Thereafter open the setup file and install the tool. Wait for the installation to complete. When done, open the Rkill tool, select the desired process, and end it. Exit all the windows.

Click on the Start button and browse to Control Panel and then Add or Remove Programs. Wait for the window to populate with programs. When done, search for win32 heur or win32/heur program. If it is there, select it and then hit the Change/Remove button. Confirm the virus removal. Do not reboot your computer.

Disable System Restore. Click on the Start button, right click on the My Computer and choose Properties from the drop-down options. Click to highlight System Restore and then select Turn off System Restore. Press the Apply button or else the OK button to apply the changes. Confirm the changes and reboot your computer. Create a new system restore point in the later steps when modifying the registry.

Click on Start and navigate to My Computer> C: drive> Program Files> Temp. Search the folder carefully for the files by the names file.exe, services.exe, winlogon.exe, iapro.exe, iv.exe, setup[1].exe, install[1].exe, IAvir.exe, IAInstall[1].exe, IApro1.exe, sample.bin-1, InternetAntivirusPro.exe, AntivirusPro.exe, AntivirusProInstaller_101[1].exe, and antiviruspro[1].exe. Delete any or all the files by these names from the Temp folder. You must also scan other folders in Program Files or other locations in your computer for these files.

Now go to your standard user profile in C: drive> Documents and Settings> your user profile> Application Data. Scan the Application Data folder for the above mentioned files and delete them. Move to the Temp sub-folder in the Local Settings folder under your user profile and repeat the procedure. You must also look for these files in other locations including drives in your computer. It will take some time but it will be worth to perform a complete virus removal. Exit all the windows.

It's time for registry modification which is a little bit risky procedure. Click on the Start button and browse to Run. Type 'regedit' (without quotes and as it is) in the empty field and hit Enter. It will bring up Windows Registry Editor. Windows 7 and Vista users may be prompted to enter the admin password to proceed to Registry Editor. Enter the password to continue to the application.

Once in Registry Editor, take a backup of your registry before proceeding with the deletion of infected registry entries. You can either create a system restore point or use the inbuilt Import and Export utility to do so. When done backing up the registry, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Win32/heur. Delete the Win32/heur entry under Software. You must also scan the entire registry for Win32/heur entries and delete them.

When finished, exit Registry Editor. Connect to the internet and download the latest version of either Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or Spybot Search and Destroy. Save the file and run installation. When done, open the program, update it, and then run a full system (not custom) scan. Wait for the scan to complete. When done, prompt the program to remove the infections found during scanning. Exit the window.

Launch your antivirus or anti-spyware software and update it. When done, run a full system scan and repeat the above mentioned step. Exit all the windows and reboot your computer. The Windows will load normally. Congratulations you have successfully performed Win32 heur virus removal on your personal computer.

Additional Tips:

If you are unable to launch Task Manager or go online to download any program or access any application on your computer, reboot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking.

You can use the Windows Search utility to search for the virus files (see above) in all the folders and locations in your computer. For example, you want to search the Temp folder for such file names, simply press the Ctrl and F keys together on the keyboard to bring up the Search utility and type its name (for example, winlogon.exe) in the box and hit Enter. The tool will automatically search for winlogon.exe in that particular location and display it, saving you enormous time and making the deletion easy.

You will need to have admin rights to make some of the above mentioned changes to your computer. For example, you will be required to log on as an admin to remove infected files from the Temp folder under Program Files. Take help of an expert virus removal support service if the above mentioned procedure seems to be beyond your skills.

How to Remove a Virus on a Frozen Computer

The article describes the procedure for removing a virus on a frozen computer. The methods described here are reliable and correct to date. However, we recommend you to follow them carefully to avoid running into problems. Alternatively, you can go for a professional online virus removal support service. It will save your precious time and money that could be spent lugging your computer to a repair shop or calling a technician at home.

Virus infections and the harms done by them are a reality today. It is also a reality that you can deal with them using a malware removal tool. However, what would you do if your computer doesn't respond at all to your commands, making you unable to connect to the internet or access any application? You simply cannot do anything on a frozen computer. Feeling depressed? Don't worry. There is a solution to your problem. The below mentioned guide will tell you the ways to defreeze your computer to eliminate the virus.

Instructions:

Press Alt, Ctrl, and Delete keys together to bring up the Windows Security window. Press the Shut Down button to let your computer start shutting down. When done, restart it. Instead of shut down, you can also simply choose the Restart option from the drop-down list on the Windows Security dialog box. Once the computer has rebooted showing up all the icons on the desktop, open your antivirus program. Hit the Update button to update the program with latest virus and malware definitions.

When done, run a full system scan (recommended) to search through all the directories and drives in your computer. If you run a custom scan (not recommended), it will only search the locations selected by you and not the entire computer. It is possible that the virus is hiding in different locations which you haven't chosen to scan. It will not remove the virus fully which can re-execute itself from there. When scanning is finished, prompt your program to delete the infections.

Thereafter, download and install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from its official website. Save the downloaded file and unzip its contents to another file provided that it is zipped one. Run the setup file and complete installation of the program. When done, open Anti-Malware and update it. Wait until updating finishes. When done, run a full scan as mentioned above and then prompt the tool to delete the virus infection.

If the Alt + Ctrl + Delete method doesn't work for you and the computer remains frozen, force it to shut down by pressing the power button off. Let it remain powered off for some time like 5-10 minutes. Now power it on and while it starts rebooting but before the Windows logo appears, start tapping the F8 key to boot it into the Safe Mode with Networking. Use the Down arrow key to make the selection. When done, repeat the abovementioned procedure to eliminate the virus from your computer. You can also manually remove the infection; however, it is a risky and lengthy procedure as it involves deleting virus files from the root directories and modifying registry. You must rather contact an online virus removal support service before taking the risk on your own.

If this method also doesn't work, exercise this one. If you have another computer which is virus free at your home, use it to download Malwarebytes' Anti-malware. You can also use your friend's computer to do so. Save the copy to a flash drive or a CD whichever your infected computer supports. While this procedure is being performed, power off your infected computer. When done, plug the media to the port of your computer (infected) and choose to boot it from. Follow the on-screen instructions and repeat the process of using Malwarebytes to clean your machine. When finished, save the copy of Malwarebytes on your computer and take the media out.

Additional Tips:

We haven't explained the manual virus removal procedure here. It is well explained in the article why the procedure was not included here. If you want the painless and hassle-free treatment for virus removal, contact an online virus removal support.

How to Remove the Security Sphere 2012 Program

The article discusses the procedure of removing Security Sphere 2012, another phony anti-spyware program from the family of Personal Shield Pro. The methods compiled here are simple and reliable. However, it is recommended that these should be used carefully to avoid facing problems. It will also save your time and money that would undeniably be wasted looking for spyware removal support options.

Instructions:

Manual Procedure -

Close all the windows or pop-ups that appear on your Desktop screen. Backup your data internally (use Windows's built-in backup utility) or to an external media like CD, DVD etc. When done, follow the below mentioned steps one by one. If you are unable to perform them, then reboot your computer in Safe Mode. When your computer starts booting and before the Windows logo appears, start tapping the F8 key on the keyboard until you see the Boot option menu. Use the Down arrow key to select the Safe Mode with Networking option.

Right click anywhere on the Taskbar and go to Task Manager. Highlight the Processes tab and locate random.exe (there will be random characters followed by.exe) from the listed options. Select it and then press the End Process button. Exit the Task Manager window.

Click on the Start menu and go to My Computer. Double click on the Local Drive C: icon and then navigate to Documents and Settings> All Users> and Application Data. Locate the Temp folder and open it. Look for random characters or symbols in the folder and delete all of them. There may also be random character.exe and/or random character.tmp files, delete them as well. You must also go to Documents and Settings> User Name (your standard user account name)> Local Settings> Temp. Locate the same random character files and delete them. Thereafter, go to Documents and Settings> User Name> and Desktop. Locate Security Sphere 2012.ink file and delete it. Exit all the windows.

Click on the Start button and click on Run. Type 'regedit' without quotes in the Open box and hit Enter. When Registry Editor opens up, scroll and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\ [random characters].exe. You might also see Run\ "Security Sphere 2012 instead of RunOnce [random].exe. You must also look for and delete these registry entries viz. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PhishingFilte "Enabled" = "0"; HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings "1ProxyOverride" = "0" (the quotes may also be empty); and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings "ProxyEnable" = "1"; HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\[random symbols].

Exit the Registry Editor window. Open your security program (antivirus or anti-spyware) and update it to download and install latest updates. When done, run a full system scan. Wait until the scan completes and prompts you to delete the items that have been found. Do as prompted. Close all the windows and reboot computer as normally.

Auto Procedure -

End the abovementioned processes using Task Manager. Download an anti-spyware program from a torrent but safe site. There are many good anti-spyware programs available on the internet. Some of them include Spyware Doctor, Stopzilla, Hitman Pro, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and Microsoft Security Essentials among others.

When concluded on a program, visit its website and download it. Click on the Save File button when prompted. When done, browse to that location, locate the file, and double click to open it. Run the installation. Follow the on screen instructions and complete installation. When finished, open the program, update it, and then run a full system scan. Wait until the scanning completes. When prompted, hit the delete or remove button to let the program automatically delete the items that it found in the scanning. You can check the history of the deleted infections.

Additional Tips:

By random.exe, it hereby means that these processes or files will contain unusual random characters in the mentioned locations. You must locate and remove them.

Do not be tricked by the phony virus, spyware alerts that show up on your screen and do not click on any link to purchase these fake anti-spyware programs. It is because these programs are designed to set you up to steal money, spy on you, or even corrupt your machine. Unless you are quite sure about that it is a genuine alert from your antivirus or anti-spyware program, do not get carried away with what you see on the screen. If you use a security program, then you will know what a genuine alert looks like.

How To Remove Spyware Quickly And Effectively

Spyware causes major obstacles to you, your computer and your free time. Learning how to remove spyware quickly and efficiently is a great way to start enjoying the things you want to do a lot more!

The first thing you must realise is that even if you want quick results, you have to do an entire system scan. There's simply just too many places that spyware can hide and if you do only a little check, the devastating consequences of spyware can still have a big impact on you. Remember, that with the wrong program you can become a victim of identity theft and credit card fraud!

All this being said, most people scan their systems in a way that wastes hours if not days. Here's how to cut down on some major time!

Time-Saver #1: Exit All Programs!

Not only is this a huge time-saver, but practical spyware-scanning advice. One way is to simply shut down all unnecessary processes in Task Manager that waste up precious CPU. You'll be surprised how many junk programs and processes you have running that aren't even related to anything you're using! Install a piece of software one time and even if you asked it not to run at start-up, it still probably found a way to hog up time during system start-up! The biggest shortcut to achieve all of this is to boot in safe mode, which basically consists of pressing F8 at computer start before Windows starts to load. Doesn't work? Force shut down and try again!

Time-Saver #2: Empty The Trash! Move Out The Junk!

If you're really under a deadline and need this spyware removed, you have to stop wasting time by bringing down the scanning time! What does that mean? Enlist all of your big media files and stuff you only use occasionally but takes up a lot of space into the CD/USB draft! Move all your MP3's off-computer. Get rid of those programs you have that have thousands of files you never use! Move Photoshop-type programs you never use onto a portable hard drive!

By drastically eliminating the amount of files to scan you'll be saving yourself a lot of time. It's kinda like searching for a lost key, you're not going to search in the places where you definitely know it's not there.

Time-Saver #3: Use A Good AV!

Are you sure your anti-virus program is the best on the market? You can save yourself a lot of time if your anti-virus can't remove even the most basic of spyware by getting a good one! Good programs to try include Avast! Free Antivirus and for those nastier threats MalwareBytes Anti Malware and Sophos Anti-Rootkit. Many of these programs can work in partnership with each other so never fear!

Time-Saver #4: Don't Get Spyware!

You know, you can save a lot of time by never getting spyware in the first place! There's certain sites such as downloads and adult websites that tend to harbor spyware. Learn what sites these are! And don't run around the internet rolling the dice every time you visit a web page! Use software and add-ons that protect your browser from vulnerabilities and malicious scripts!

My motto is always that removing spyware is just the first step!

To find out step-by-step how to destroy spyware and keep it out for good, read Bulletproof Your Computer, the internet's most comprehensive and up-to-date spyware fighting guide!

Understand how spyware so easily gets onto your computer. And understand the simple but extremely effective tools and principles you must utilise if you want to Bulletproof Your Computer!

How to Remove a Trojan Virus Manually

The article describes how you can manually remove a Trojan virus from your computer. The methods described here are reliable and correct to date. We still advise you to follow them carefully to avoid facing problems. It is because virus removal is a sensitive procedure and requires thorough understanding of the virus infected files and their locations in the computer.

A Trojan virus is a dangerous program that masquerades as a legitimate program and thus bypasses your security program's reach. It mostly comes embedded into freeware like weather forecast software and tray clocks etc. considering that you need help removing the bad Trojan virus from your computer; we have compiled a free virus removal guide for you to remove it manually from your computer. However, online virus removal is recommended over the manual procedure for normal users.

Instructions:

Before you begin removing the Trojan virus from your computer, take a backup of your valuable data to a flash drive or CD etc. Instead of relying on external backup media that are equally susceptible to catastrophic damage, you can choose a cloud storage service to store your data. Once the data is backed up, open Task Manager by right clicking anywhere on the taskbar. Alternatively, you can press Alt, Ctrl, Delete keys together on the keyboard.

If you are unable to run any of these below mentioned steps in the normal mode, restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. When the computer start rebooting, repeatedly press the F8 key on the keyboard until you see the Windows boot menu. Use the Down arrow key to reach Safe Mode with Networking and then hit Enter. Make sure you immediately start tapping the F8 key before the Windows logo appears.

Disable System Restore. If it is Windows 7 or Vista, click on the Start menu and browse to Control Panel. Locate System and click on it. Click on System protection. Highlight the System Protection tab, select the disk drive viz. C or D etc., and then hit the Configure button. Select the Turn off system protection option, hit the Apply button, and then OK to exit the System Properties window. if you are using Windows XP, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. Highlight the System Restore tab and disable the system restore feature. Delete all the system restore points to avoid the Trojan virus from loading itself back on to your computer after it is restored.

In the Task Manager window, click on the Processes tab and look for the virus' processes. You will see weird names such as 124hies.exe, mslaugh.exe, and ghie4562.exe among others. Once you have spotted such process, click on it and then press the End Process button. It will stop the Trojan virus from running and consuming the CPU power. If the virus has got a specific name like blaster.worm or 32heur etc., you will find processes followed by such name extensions in addition to the weird names. Close Task Manager.

If the Trojan virus has disabled Task Manager due to which you are unable to kill malicious processes, check if you can launch your antivirus program or connect to the internet. If the antivirus program opens up, update it with latest virus definitions. Wait until updating finishes. When done, run a full virus scan (recommended) and not a custom one. When finished, check for the virus infected files and their locations into your computer. Write their full path in a Windows Notepad or on a piece of paper. Prompt the security program to delete them. If it is unable to delete the infected files, close it.

Click on the Start menu and browse to C:\ drive from My Computer. Search for the Trojan virus' file using Windows Search. Type the name of the virus file in the desired field and hit Enter. When the file appears in the search results, right click on it and select Rename to change its name to something like virus_temp (you can name it anything you want). The renaming will weaken the Trojan virus. Now right click on virus_temp and select Delete to delete the file. Repeat the procedure for all the infected files.

Connect to the internet and run a free online virus scan from a website like Trend Micro or F-Secure. Download the latest version of any of the free tools and install it. When done, open the tool and launch a full virus scan and not a custom one. Wait for the scan to complete. When done, check the names and locations of the infected files. Write them down like you did in the previous step and repeat the rename and deletion procedure as mentioned above. When done exit the window.

Open the Run utility from the Start menu. Type 'regedit' in the empty field and hit Enter. It will open up Registry Editor. Before you begin making changes to the registry, make sure that you have backed up your entire data including the registry. If you wrongly modify the registry, you can lead your system to full or partial crash. Scan all the branches of the Windows registry for all such files names that were during the scans by your antivirus program and the free online virus scanner. The most popular branches to look for into include HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. However, you must scan other branches too to be on a safer side. Exit Registry Editor.

When done scanning and deleting all the malicious entries from the registry and other locations, connect to the internet and download Anti-Malware, a free antivirus tool from Malwarebytes. Visit the official Malwarebytes website (Malwarebytes.org, prefix 'www.' In the front) and download the latest version of Anti-Malware. Save the file when prompted. Afterwards, run the setup file to install the tool. When done, open the tool and update it. Wait for the updates to be downloaded as well as installed. When finished, click on the Scanner tab and choose Perform full scan instead of Perform quick scan. Press the Scan button to start the scan and wait until it finishes. Afterwards, prompt the tool to delete the infected files.

How to Remove McAfee Site Advisor

The article intends to explain how to remove McAfee SiteAdvisor?. The methods compiled here are reliable and correct until date. However, we advise you to follow and implement them carefully to avoid running into troubles.

McAfee SiteAdvisor? is a site-alert tool that proactively informs you whether a particular website is safe to browse or not. It does so by adding colored ratings against each website in search results. Despite being a good tool, you may want to uninstall McAfee SiteAdvisor? from your computer due to several reasons.

Instructions:

Close any program that is currently running on your computer. If you are using Windows 7 or Vista, click on the Start menu and browse to Control Panel. Click on the Uninstall a program link under Programs. If you don't see this option and instead see a set of programs, you might be in the Classic View under Control Panel Home (check on the left hand side pane). Look for Programs and Features and double click on its icon. When the window opens up, you will see all the programs listed in there. Look for McAfee SiteAdvisor from the listed programs, select it and hit the Uninstall button. You might see Uninstall/Remove button, click on that to proceed.

If prompted for a confirmation, click Yes or Continue (whatever option you see there) to proceed. If you are using Windows XP, click on the Start button and navigate to Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs. Wait for the window to populate with programs. When done, locate McAfee SiteAdvisor, select it and hit the Remove button. You may instead see Change/Remove button, press it. When prompted, confirm the removal. Let the wizard complete removal of McAfee SiteAdvisor. When prompted, restart your computer.

This method will work only when McAfee SiteAdvisor was installed as a standalone program. If it is installed as a built-in component of your McAfee antivirus program, you will not find it as a separate program under Add or Remove Programs in Windows XP and Programs (or Programs and Features) in Windows 7/Vista. Instead of this, you will find the McAfee Antivirus or Security Suite in the programs. Click on it and hit the Uninstall button in Windows 7/Vista or Remove button in Windows XP. This will open up the McAfee security suite, select the box next to SiteAdvisor and hit the Uninstall or Remove button. Confirm the removal and let the wizard take care of rest of the procedure. Restart your PC when prompted. If you want, you can also select and remove other components like McAfee virusscan.

Though the program has been removed, its registry entries still exist in Registry Editor. You must find and delete them to fully remove McAfee SiteAdvisor. You can do it manually or with a registry cleaner tool. Remember, manual modification requires a thorough understanding of Registry Editor. In the absence of which, you can lead you system to crash or other critical issues. So, we do not recommend you to try the manual method. Instead, connect to the internet and download a free registry cleaner tool from a trusted website. When prompted, save the file.

Go to the Downloads folder, look for the file, and open it to run the setup wizard. Follow the onscreen prompts and complete installation of the registry cleaner. If prompted, restart your PC. When done, open the tool and run a scan for the damaged or empty registry keys of the uninstalled program(s). When finished, prompt it to clean the selected or all registry keys. You can prompt the tool to create a restore point before doing the cleanup. When done, exit all the windows.

Additional Tips:

You can also simply disable McAfee SiteAdvisor instead of removing it. Other than this, you can install or remove other McAfee supported tools using McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe).

How to Remove Malicious Software

Spyware, malware and viruses can cause considerable damage to computers. Often, they damage a system so severely that the computer requires a new hard drive. Luckily, you can protect your computer by following some simple steps. A computer that is already infected will have to be cleaned by a malware removal program to get the system running again.

A first important step is to install an anti-virus suite and download updates regularly. The best anti-virus programs have good user ratings on software review sites. The people who create malware are always on the lookout to exploit holes in anti-virus software programs. You should, therefore, choose a manufacturer that updates its virus definitions frequently and provides automatic updates for their anti-virus products.

Secondly, it is recommended that you install another anti-malware product. As with the first program, the second one must also be reputable, highly rated, and updated often by the manufacturer. People who use both programs will have a better chance of identifying and removing spyware and malware.

It is now time to put the programs to use. Using them is fairly straightforward. All you have to do is follow the prompts on the screen. As soon as an anti-virus program finds a threat, it removes it. This is an ideal solution for programs that are slowing down the computer or causing other small problems.

If a virus is exceptionally malicious, it will stop the computer's operating system from loading. In this case, you should note the error messages that display. Next, use another computer to search the Internet for the type of malware associated with the messages. Hopefully, you will find a website that provides steps to remove it. People who cannot fix their system after completing this step may need professional help. One option is to call the support center of the makers of your computer. Or perhaps you can get in touch with a computer repair shop.

As a final point, make sure you always download the latest patches for your operating system. Malware creators are constantly seeking weaknesses in operating systems. Once they find one, they design a program that can access computers through that loophole. Luckily, Microsoft continually develops and distributes security patches for its operating systems. The patches work to remedy security issues and maintain the integrity of the operating system.

Most of the time, however, malware doesn't cause too much damage. It can cause irritating pop-ups to display, redirect you to SPAM websites, and slow down your computer. However, sometimes these programs can cause serious damage to computers. Some people employ malicious code to steal passwords and logins. This can lead to identity theft. For optimal protection, download a trustworthy malware removal program.

Taylor Allin is the lead technician at http://www.advancedvirusremoval.com/ and often offers advice on various PC repair forums. Viruses, Spyware, Malware, and incorrect registry entries can make your computer completely unusable or at the very least make it less enjoyable than it should be. Advanced Virus Removal can remove malicious code from your computer. Stop by today for a free evaluation of your computer health.

How to Remove Win HDD Virus From Windows 7 Computer

The article describes the procedure for removing Win HDD virus from your computer. The instructions provided here are reliable and correct to date. However, we still recommend you to follow them carefully to avoid facing virus removal problems.

Win HDD, a.k.a WinHDD, is a rogue system diagnostic and scanning program that is downloaded via a Trojan horse. The program displays your genuine programs like your antivirus program as a fake program, shows false system errors and virus alerts, and run fake virus scans on your infected computer. When infected with this virus, your internet connection may stop working or your computer will not shut down or reboot at all. You should immediately take remedial steps to remove it from your system. Here is your free virus removal support guide that will help you remove virus from your computer.

Instructions:

Save all your work, disconnect from your internet connection, and exit all the windows. Go to the System Restore utility and restore your computer to an earlier data or time. A word of caution here is that it will undo any recent changes that you made to your computer. It may be anything from installing drivers, toolbar, add-in, to a new program etc. You might need to reinstall the necessary software that was undone in System Restore. It totally depends on you whether you want to reinstall them or not.

To go to System Restore, click the Start button and then type 'restore' (without quotes) in the Start Search menu. Do not hit Enter. Click on the System Restore link under Programs in the search results. When the System Restore window comes up, press the Next button. You will see a list of all the restore points. Click to choose your restore point and then hit Next. When you see the message Confirm your restore point, hit the Finish button.

Once you hit the Finish button, your computer will start rebooting to restore the settings. When finished, check the virus must have gone from your computer. However, now you must open your antivirus program, update it with latest virus definitions, and then run a full virus scan of your computer. You will be needed to reconnect to the internet connection to update your antivirus program. When done, prompt your antivirus to delete any infected files that were found during the scan. When done, exit the window and enjoy a virus-free experience and healthy computer again.

Another method of removing the virus is that you can manually remove the Win HDD virus files. Before you proceed, make sure that you completely understand technical aspects of your computer. If you make any wrong changes to your registry or files, your computer stands to face permanent or partial crash or other severe problem. Now that you have understood the risks involved in the manual virus removal procedure, let's start removing the virus.

Go to the Temp folder located in your C:\ drive> Documents and Settings> Username> Local Settings> Temp. When in the Temp folder, locate and delete these files viz. dfrg.exe, 98acf0.exe, dfrgr.exe, Win HDDUninstall Win HDD.Ink, and Win HDDWin HDD.Ink among others. Other than these, if you see any random character or name file like 56abhced.exe, edgiei.exe, 45drkek.exe etc., delete them.

Now go to the Programs folder in C: drive> Documents and Settings> Username> Start Menu> Programs. Locate the same above mentioned files and remove them. You must locate and remove other random character files too. Besides, after deleting all these files, Go to Recycle Bin and empty it. There should not remain any virus file in Recycle Bin too. When done, exit all the windows. Click on the Start menu and type 'regedit' in the Start Search menu. Select Registry Editor from the search results and open it.

If prompted for an admin password, enter it and continue. When in the Registry Editor window, click to expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER branch of the registry. Navigate to Software> Microsoft> Windows> CurrentVersion> Run. When in the Run folder, look for the same above mentioned or random character files and delete them. If you are unable to locate them or make such changes, take help of a virus removal support expert but do not make wrong changes. It could results in system crash or other problems.

When done, exit all the windows. Launch your antivirus program, update it, and then run a full virus scan. When finished, prompt your antivirus to remove the infected files. You can also run an online virus scan from a website like Trend Micro. Download the House Call file from its website and run a full virus scan. Thereafter, prompt it to remove the infected files. You must also empty the Recycle Bin to make sure that no virus infected file remains there.

Additional Info and Tips:

· If you are unable to perform any of the above mentioned steps, reboot your computer into Safe Mode.

· Win HDD belongs to the family of HDD Control, HDD Defragmenter, and HDD Diagnostic, all fake programs.

What Is DNS Changer and How to Remove It?

The article describes what DNS Changer is and how it can be removed from a computer. The methods provided here are reliable and correct to date. However, we advise users to follow them cautiously to avoid running into common virus removal problems.

DNS Changer is a malicious Trojan virus that changes the DNS (Domain Name Server) configuration of your computer. The virus hijacks your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) DNS servers and modifies them to use its own to direct your web browser to illegal, unsolicited, and porn websites etc. Besides, it changes your computer settings, steals your personal information, installs unwanted software, and invites other viruses and malware to attack your computer. When infected with this virus, you will essentially not log into your own computer or email account but into the hijacker's niche. Do not worry as there is solution to this problem. Here is your comprehensive free virus removal support guide to help you delete the virus from your computer.

Instructions:

You should first determine whether your computer or router is plagued by DNS Changer or not. If the computer or router is using a fake DNS server, then it has been plagued and needs be cured immediately. Open Command Prompt from the Start menu> All Programs> Accessories. You can alternatively type 'cmd' in the Run window and hit Enter to open Command Prompt. Once the window is opened, type 'ipconfig/all' (without quotes) and hit Enter. Locate the DNS server entries. These should be anything between the span of 0 and 255.

Make a note of the DNS server entries and compare them with the list of fake DNS server ones. The fake ones include 85.255.112.0 to 85.255.127.255; 64.28.176.0 to 64.28.191.255; 67.210.0.0 to 67.210.15.255; 77.67.83.0 to 77.67.83.255; 93.188.160.0 to 93.188.167.255; 213.109.64.0 to 213.109.79.255; and 193.227.227.218 among others. You must perform the same procedure for your wireless router also. If your DNS entries match with any of the given entries here, your computer or router has certainly been taken down by DNS Changer. Follow the instructions below to remove it completely.

First create a backup of your entire computer data. You can either choose to store your computer on cloud storage or on an external backup media like flash drive. When done backing up your data, go to the Windows Directory. Open the Run program (from the Start menu) and type '%Windir%\system32\drivers' (without quotes) and hit Enter. The command will take you to the list of driver software. Look for the 'ndisprot.sys' file, right click on it and choose Rename. Change the name of the file to something else. When done, select this file and hit the Delete key on the keyboard. When prompted for a confirmation, hit the Yes button. You should delete this file from the Recycle Bin also.

When the file has been deleted, open the Run program again and type 'regedit' (without quotes) and hit Enter. This will open up the Windows Registry Editor. Before you proceed from here, make sure that you have backed up all your files. When done, scan for these registry threads and remove the last entry from the entire thread. Remember, you should not delete the entire thread, it is only the last entry.

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces] "NameServer"

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{random} DhcpNameServer = 85.255.xx.xxx,85.255.xxx.xxx

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{random} NameServer = 85.255.xxx.133,85.255.xxx.xxx

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\

DhcpNameServer = 85.255.xxx.xxx,85.255.xxx.xxx

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\

NameServer = 85.255.xxx.xxx,85.255.xxx.xxx

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\%RandomCLSID%"DhcpNameServer"

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\%RandomCLSID%"NameServer"

· HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\%Random CLSID% "DhcpNameServer"

When done, exit the Registry Editor window. Open your antivirus program and run a full virus scan of your computer. Wait for the scan to finish. When done, prompt your antivirus to remove the malicious items found during the scanning. Thereafter, connect to the internet and download the latest version of DNSChanger removal tool either from McAfee or Malwarebytes. Save the downloaded file to your computer.

When done, locate and run the setup file. Follow the instructions to install and/or run the tool. When the tool has been installed, open it and then update it with latest virus and malware definitions. Wait until updating finishes. When finished, run a full virus scan of your computer. Afterwards, prompt the tool to delete all the infected files. Close all the windows. Empty the Recycle Bin and then restart your computer. Your computer is now free of the DNS Changer Trojan virus.

Additional Tips:

You should be logged in as an administrator to modify the Registry Editor. Since registry modification is a sensitive procedure, you must take help of a professional online virus removal support to avoid facing system crash or other severe problems in your computer.
